Crouch Vale New Brewery Progress

(Newest first)

January 16th 2007 - Brewing at our old site (Redhills Road) has ceased. Yes, we've stopped the milk and everything...

Initial brews on the new plant were excellent, so with confidence we've bitten the bullet and transferred all production to Haltwhistle Road. You may well have already drunk beer from the new brewery and not even realised, who knows! Suffice to say that of course there have been niggling little teething troubles, but by and large the new kit, after a few modifications, has proved worthy of the task. It's also very shiny, which is nice.

December 2006 - Brewery Shop fully open -

Pop in and visit us with all of your spare money! Shop open Mon - Fri 08.30 - 17.00.

Heave-ho, here we go! First Brew - November 30th 2006, 07:08am

Celebrity Guest Tony Blackburn heaves the first sack of malt into the grist case for the first Haltwhistle Road brew. A rather arty picture of the first brew's malt descending into the auger on its way to the mash tun.

October 2006

October 06, and the mezzanine floor is going up. As it's all stainless steel, the brewery is starting to look very shiny indeed. Gleam, gleam...
The boiler has been commissioned, but is rather letting the side down by being blue. The existing stairs were recycled, so they're not made of stainless steel either. But they do nearly match Bertie the Boiler, which is nice.

August 2006

It's August 06 now and Bertie the Boiler is sitting upright, nearly ready to be commissioned.

The mash tun sits proudly on South Woodham Ferrers beach.

It's not a beach really, it's some sandy stuff that goes down before the paint. Look, there's some more...

June 2006

Large lumps of Canadian Stainless Steel populate the yard. Mr Bocking feels in his pockets to see of there's any wonga left. There isn't The copper has a little lie down before being put in place (and then moved, twice).
The copper stand proud next to his cousins the hot liquor tank and the cold liquor tank. he's not supposed to be there, but he just did it anyway. The little terror! Later on we found out and moved him. Twice.

The large racking tank stands proud yet forlorn and alone before being joined by his chums the fermenting vessels. Obviously we then moved them all again, twice.
